May 2007. Back in the air!

It's been a while since I added anything to this site. I have finally began flying again and it seems I logged more hours in the past couple weeks than I flew in all of 2006!! These are some pics from Republic Airport (FRG) on Long Island to Montauk taken May 2007.

Was a bit quiet on a Wednesday afternoon. Certainly a better choice then sitting in my office back in the city.

Took a walk down the road and still nothing open yet during the week.

Still just my Archer and the Cirrus on the ramp all alone on the ramp. When I was preparing to depart this Beech 18 came storming down the runway and parked next to me. Turns out it was Michael Mancuso (aerobatic pilot based at Brookhaven) arriving for a photo shoot.

Departed back west over the island. Who says New York is just a city?

Had to head home to drop off the Archer for its annual. I plan to get back in the air next week for more adventures.

First solo

And it all started with my first solo back in September 2004.

My new 1977 Archer

Back in September the transponder was not reporting well and being based at a class D this was not acceptable. Once the plane was at the local avionics shop I decided to just go ahead and upgrade the avionics. I am a low time ppl with the interest of obtaining ifr rating and just overall flying experience in the northeast. Choosing the Archer for me was not a difficult decision as I knew the aircraft and the history fairly well. The price was right and it was just a matter changing from a renter to an owner.
As for the ugrades I had the following installed and you can see the changes from the before and after photos:
GNS 430 with CDI
PMA7000B
Electronics International Super Clock ASC-5A
Electronics International Fuel Flow FP-5(L)
Vertical Compass Card
Already installed was the stec-30alt auto pilot

1977 Archer

Well, I finally bought my first airplane. The above photos are when I first purchased in August 2006. The plane has 4400tt with a fairly new engine with 650 hrs since a factory reman in 2002. Once purchased I decided to go ahead and have the avionics upgraded. I just want to have some photos posted in order to begin the aircraft blog.
